 Economics Undergraduate Minor

A Minor in Economics is offered to students earning degrees outside the School of Management and also to students in the School of Management.  Click here for a PDF of the form that must be filed out before undertaking this minor.  The specific minor requirements are:

  • For all Students: Complete the following 2 required courses.   6 hours
    • ECON 251 Microeconomics
    • ECON 252 Macroeconomics
  • For all Students: Complete 3 additional upper-level Economics courses from the list below. All three upper level courses must be completed at Purdue, West Lafayette.     9 hours

    You must meet the prerequisite requirements for each class as listed in parentheses below. 
    • ECON 340 Intermediate Microeconomics (251 and 2 calculus courses)
    • ECON 352 Intermediate Macroeconomics (251, 252, 1 calculus and upper division status*)
    • ECON 360 Econometrics (MGMT 305 or equivalent)
    • ECON 361 Antitrust and Regulation (251)
    • ECON 370 International Trade (251, 252)
    • ECON 371 International Monetary Problems (251, 252)
    • ECON 380 Money and Banking (251, 252)
    • ECON 385 Labor Economics
    • ECON 422 Public Finance and Taxation (251)
    • ECON 451 Game Theory (251)
    • ECON 456 Urban Economics (251)
    • ECON 461 Industrial Economics (251)
    • ECON 466 International Economics (252, 340)
    • ECON 471 Behavioral Economics (251, 252)
    • ECON 490A Environmental Economics (251, 252)
    • ECON 490C Economics and Ethics (251, 252)
    • ECON 523 State and Local Public Finance (251)

     
  • For Students in the School of Management:  In addition to the above requirements, complete Econ 415 or a fourth upper level Economics course selected from the list above. These courses MUST be completed at Purdue, West Lafayette.
