Welcome to the website of the Finance Department at Purdue University. The Department has a long tradition of excellence in both research and teaching. Research by the finance faculty at Krannert is focused on the areas of corporate finance and asset pricing, and in these areas, the faculty is at the frontiers of academic research. The finance faculty currently serve or have served on the editorial boards of several of the most prestigious academic journals in finance, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Financial Management.
The Journal of Financial Economics ranks our department 16th among Institutions with the Most JFE Papers Published, 1974-2001 (3 or more papers) and 21st among Institutions with the Most Citations to JFE Papers Published 1974-2000. In addition, a recent survey by Academic Assessment Services ranks the finance department 17th in terms of citations overall in the top 51 schools, ranked in the top 30, at least once by business school ranking systems from 1988 to 2003.
Alumni from the finance programs have established themselves both in the academic community and business. Recently, the Financial Times rated the department as the 7th for finance in the world, on the basis of alumni recommendations. The 13th edition of "Which MBA?", published by The Economist Intelligence Unit, ranked the Finance department 5th in the world, on the basis of ratings by students and recent graduates, who were asked to rate subject areas in terms of teaching quality, content, and practical relevance.
