Doctoral Business Foreign Languages and Cultures Symposium
Purdue CIBER is seeking partners to assist in the planning and implementation of its newest program, the Doctoral Student Symposium on the Pedagogy of Business Foreign Languages and Cultures.
Purpose of Conference:- To encourage and assist doctoral students in foreign languages to develop interests and competencies in the study and application of teaching business languages and cultures. The symposium will draw on established academicians, journal editors, and other leaders in the business language community, who will facilitate exploration of issues in business language pedagogy and means by which business languages expertise can enable a successful scholarly career.
Tentative date: - October 8-10, 2009

- In and Outs of getting a faculty job in business languages
- Industry attitudes regarding the value (or lack) of language and culture study for business
- What should a “business language” Ph.D. plan of study include?
- In today’s academic job market, is there value in having a “business language” Ph.D.?
- Selecting a business language textbook: Things to consider
