| Mary Slater
Shell Chemical LP
Mary Slater is the global business analyst, C4/C5 Olefins for Shell Chemicals.
During her first assignment with Shell, she was a senior sales executive for the Solvents
business of Shell Chemicals. During her first assignment, she was able to use her
Krannert background to develop many business efficiency tools that are now global
standards for the group.
Using the tool development and business improvement as a stepping-stone, she
then switched to her current position. In her current role, she has had the opportunity to
develop additional tools to improve business efficiency. Ms. Slater’s role change to
business analytics allowed her to bring a new perspective to the position. She believes
that for a business to be truly competitive, the organization must have a thorough
understanding of the markets it competes in and the competitors it faces.
In addition to other duties, she is part of the campus recruiting effort at Shell. She
currently serves as the campus manager for Purdue. This involvement has allowed her to
further develop her skill set in a ‘non-traditional’ way.
To achieve work-life balance, she relaxes by playing and coaching soccer at
youth, high school, and “big kid” levels. Additionally, she enjoys reading and
participating in distance running events including at least one half marathon each year.
