Attending a summer educational program in the U.S.

If you plan to enroll in any type of educational program (for example: English as a Second Language) in the United States prior to attending Purdue this coming fall semester, you must inform this office [Krannert]. We will then coordinate with the Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) so that the proper immigration paperwork (I-20/DS-2019) and advice can be provided for yourself and any of your dependents whom you may be planning to have join you.

If you have no dependents coming with you to the U.S.: You will need to obtain an I-20/DS-2019 issued by the educational institution you will attend prior to Purdue and use it to apply for a US visa.  After arriving in the U.S., you will need to obtain a transfer form from Purdue's ISS office, have it processed by your school's international office, and return it to the Purdue ISS office.   A new, transfer pending I-20/DS-2019 will then be processed for you so that you may come to Purdue in proper non-immigrant status.

If you have dependents coming with you to the U.S.: It would be best for you to have them join you at the educational program you will attend prior to Purdue. They would then be able to transfer with you to Purdue. If they stay overseas with the plan to join you when you come to Purdue, they may face delays as you would need to have a transfer I-20/DS-2019 processed for you by the Purdue ISS office before dependent I-20's/DS-2019's could be issued for them, mailed overseas, and then used to apply for visas.
