Introduction
Dear Student:
I’d like to introduce two opportunities for you to get a solid start in your studies at Krannert. In response to suggestions from students, we will offer two optional one-week workshops to prepare you for the Master’s classroom:
- Krannert Intensive Training (KIT) provides an overview of accounting and quantitative methods concepts and provides you with a chance to brush up on your math skills.
- In addition, Krannert Intensive Training in English (KITE) will help non-native English speakers enhance their listening and speaking skills. It will focus on terminology and skills for the Krannert classroom while also introducing students to American idioms and culture.
Both programs have been designed with students in mind. In listening to our new students--especially those who have been away from the classroom for a few years--we found that they are excited about their return to school, but also feel some anxiety. They expressed concern about the fast pace of their initial quantitative and accounting courses and their ability to adapt quickly to an English-speaking classroom.
It’s true that Krannert courses are fast-paced. That’s what makes them exciting, useful, and challenging for our students. We want to maintain high standards in all of our courses and cover the material we deem essential for a Master’s student to know. But we also do not want to overwhelm students.
In addition to giving KIT and KITE high marks for helping them return to the classroom, participants have felt that one of the most important benefits of the programs was the opportunity to meet their new student colleagues. Many students formed lasting friendships while attending KIT and KITE.
You’ll be hearing more about KIT and KITE over the next few weeks, so watch for updates on our New Students website. We welcome your questions about either Krannert Intensive Training class. Whether you choose to attend or not, I look forward to seeing you this fall at Krannert, one of the best values available in management education.
