Four years ago, as a senior in high school, I struggled with the decision of where to attend college.   Initially I considered attending Purdue because it’s a family school – my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all came here – but what really attracted me to Purdue was its outstanding reputation.  Purdue’s prestige is well known across the United States and around the world.  I felt that a quality education at a premier institution like Purdue would prepare me for the future and provide great experiences in and outside of the classroom.

I also enjoy Purdue for the many opportunities offered in a variety of areas.  I’ve learned so much through participating in extracurricular activities and taking on roles such as: Management Ambassador, Boiler Gold Rush freshman orientation leader, Learning Through Experience and Awareness in Diversity (LEAD) peer mentor, and many others. I’ve also taken advantage of attending a Big 10 school in the arena of sports.  I love going to the football and basketball games, cheering Purdue with thousands of other fans. Purdue also attracts a host of well-known personalities. I’ve had the opportunity to see Maya Angelou, Bill Cosby, Steve Forbes, and David Copperfield to name a few.

Not only does Purdue offer incredible learning opportunities on campus but off-campus as well.  I studied abroad in New Zealand for a semester, experiencing life in an exciting new culture, challenging myself both academically and culturally.  I gained independence, flexibility and an enhanced global perspective.  These experiences out of the classroom have not only benefited me in a personal sense but also increased my marketable skills and will be transferable experiences to use in a future job setting.

Purdue University has been a great place for me, and has proven to be a great choice for my college experience.
